Pyohex Medicated Shampoo and Conditioner are for the treatment of skin infections in dogs that are caused by bacterial infections (Staphlococcal). There are many causes and symptoms of bacterial skin infections in dogs, which may include a variety of symptoms or appearances.

Common appearances of bacterial infections in dogs:

• Pimples
• Circular rings of scale or redness (as larger pimples pop and leave ‘rings’ of skin damage)
• Moist areas of skin commonly referred to as hotspots

Reasons for bacterial skin infections:

Some cases of dog skin infections are caused by bad luck, but most are caused by underlying conditions that permit the small numbers of normal bacteria to multiply and cause infection.

Underlying causes for bacterial infections:

• Allergy, pollen, grass, food (meats), fleas
• Hormonal problems (including Cushing’s disease and thyroid problems)
• Parasitic infestations such as demodex mites or Scabies.

Pyohex shampoo and conditioner have the great benefit over creams and lotions in that they can be applied all over, regardless of the amount of fur coverage.

• I recommend applying the shampoo to a wet coat and lathering it up.
• After a few minutes, thoroughly rinse off the shampoo.
• While the dog is rinsing off the shampoo, keep him distracted from licking his mouth. It is possible for the dog to vomit up foam if he swallows it.
• When the dog has finished rinsing, allow him to shake off excess water from his coat and then rub the conditioner through his coat whilst the hair is still damp. If you would like to achieve this, you may apply a small amount to your hands, gently rub your hands together, and then rub your hands over the coat of your dog. After the conditioner has been applied roughly to your dog's coat, give your dog a good rub to ensure that the conditioner is evenly distributed throughout the coat.

How often should I use Pyohex Medicated Shampoo & Conditioner?

It is recommended that the shampoo and conditioner be applied twice a week when an active infection is present. It is often sufficient to bathe once every week or every fortnight, once the infection has resolved, in order to prevent recurrences. There is a possibility that the time of year influences how frequently your dog needs to be bathed - dogs who suffer bad allergies in spring or summer may find that they require more frequent bathings than they do in winter when their allergies aren't as active.

HOT TIPS

It will be easier to lather and spread Pyohex Medicated Shampoo if your dog is thoroughly wet.

The Pyohex Medicated Shampoo must be lathered and spread well with a wet sponge to ensure the coat is wet.

Please allow the Pyohex Medicated Shampoo to be in contact with your skin for the entire 10 minutes as this will allow for optimal efficacy.
