Bravecto

Brand Overview

Bravecto contains fluralaner, an isoxazoline compound that provides up to 12 weeks of protection against fleas and ticks after a single oral chew or topical application. As the longest-lasting flea and tick treatment on the market, Bravecto greatly reduces the frequency of dosing, enhancing compliance. Veterinarian-recommended for dogs from 6 months of age and weighing at least 2 kg, Bravecto begins killing fleas within 8 hours and ticks within 12 hours. Its rapid, sustained action helps break the flea lifecycle and protect dogs from tick-borne diseases.

Key Benefits

12 weeks of flea and tick protection: A single chew or topical dose controls fleas and ticks continuously, reducing treatment frequency. Rapid kill: Begins killing fleas within 8 hours and ticks within 12 hours of administration. Long-acting safety: Demonstrated safe for puppies (from 6 months), large breeds, and dogs with comorbidities when used as directed. Convenient chew: Flavour-coated chew is palatable for most dogs, ensuring easy administration without force-feeding.

Usage & Dosage

Choose the appropriate Bravecto formulation based on weight:

  • Bravecto Chew for Dogs 2 – 4.5 kg: One 112.5 mg chew every 12 weeks.
  • Bravecto Chew for Dogs 4.5 – 10 kg: One 250 mg chew every 12 weeks.
  • Bravecto Chew for Dogs 10 – 20 kg: One 500 mg chew every 12 weeks.
  • Bravecto Chew for Dogs 20 – 40 kg: One 1000 mg chew every 12 weeks.
  • Bravecto Chew for Dogs 40 – 56 kg: One 1400 mg chew every 12 weeks.
Administer Bravecto chew directly to the dog—do not break, divide, or crush. Ensure the dog consumes the entire chew. Bravecto can be given with or without food. Do not retreat sooner than 84 days after the previous dose. For topical Bravecto (fluralaner spot-on), apply similarly based on weight—ensure fur is parted to expose skin; apply at the base of the neck and between the shoulder blades, and allow to dry before allowing dogs to swim or bathe for 48 hours.

Safety & Considerations

Bravecto is generally well tolerated; most adverse reactions are mild and transient, such as vomiting, diarrhoea, lethargy, or skin irritation at the application site (topical form). Use with caution in dogs with a history of seizures—monitor closely. Do not use on puppies younger than 6 months or under 2 kg. If vomited within one hour of administration, re-dose with another full tablet. Avoid applying topical Bravecto to areas where dogs frequently groom or lick, as ingestion may cause GI upset. Always weigh your dog accurately prior to dosing to ensure correct dosage.
