Frontline Plus

Brand Overview

Frontline Plus is a topical solution combining fipronil and S-methoprene to provide comprehensive control of fleas, ticks, and lice. It kills adult fleas and ticks on contact and prevents the development of flea eggs and larvae, breaking the parasite lifecycle. Suitable for dogs from 8 weeks of age (weighing at least 2 kg), Frontline Plus offers once-monthly protection and is widely recommended by veterinarians for its proven efficacy and safety profile.

Key Benefits

Broad-spectrum control: Kills adult fleas, ticks (Ixodes scapularis, Rhipicephalus sanguineus, Dermacentor variabilis), and lice, and prevents flea eggs from maturing. Rapid action: Begins killing fleas within 12 hours and ticks within 48 hours of application. Long-lasting protection: Maintains efficacy for 30 days against fleas and ticks, reducing disease transmission risk. Water-resistant: Effective even after swimming or bathing (avoid water exposure for 48 hours post-application).

Usage & Dosage

Choose the correct Frontline Plus pipette based on body weight:

  • Frontline Plus for Small Dogs (< 10 kg): One 0.67 mL pipette monthly.
  • Frontline Plus for Medium Dogs (10 – 20 kg): One 1.34 mL pipette monthly.
  • Frontline Plus for Large Dogs (20 – 40 kg): One 2.68 mL pipette monthly.
  • Frontline Plus for Extra Large Dogs (> 40 kg): One 4.02 mL pipette monthly.
Part the fur at the base of the neck and apply the entire volume directly to the skin. Do not apply on top of the hair coat. Avoid bathing or swimming for 48 hours post-application. Reapply exactly every 30 days for continuous protection. If your dog gains significant weight between doses, adjust to the appropriate pipette size.

Safety & Considerations

Frontline Plus is safe and well tolerated; occasional mild local reactions—such as skin irritation, redness, or itchiness at the application site—may occur. Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, or open wounds. Do not use on puppies under 8 weeks or weighing less than 2 kg. Pregnant and lactating bitches can be treated, but seek veterinary advice. Keep pipettes in their original packaging and store in a cool, dry place. Wash hands thoroughly after application and prevent your dog from licking the site until it is dry. If accidental ingestion occurs, seek veterinary advice. Avoid concurrent use with other topical insecticides.
