Comfortis Plus

Product Overview

Comfortis Plus combines spinosad (for rapid flea kill) with milbemycin oxime (for heartworm and intestinal worm prevention). This dual-action chewable tablet kills fleas within 30 minutes of administration and provides one-month coverage against new flea infestations. Concurrently, milbemycin oxime prevents heartworm disease and treats/prevents roundworms, hookworms, and whipworms. Comfortis Plus is approved for dogs from 14 weeks of age (weighing at least 2 kg), offering comprehensive parasite protection in a single palatable chew.

Key Benefits

Rapid flea kill: Spinosad begins killing adult fleas within 30 minutes, eliminating > 90 percent within 4 hours and providing a full month of protection. Broad parasite coverage: Milbemycin oxime prevents heartworm disease and controls common gastrointestinal nematodes. Once-monthly convenience: One chewable tablet addresses multiple parasite threats, reducing the complexity of prevention regimens. Palatable formulation: Beef-flavoured chew that most dogs accept willingly, simplifying administration.

Usage & Dosage

Select the appropriate Comfortis Plus chew based on weight:

  • Comfortis Plus 70 mg/2 mg (2 – 4 kg): One chew monthly.
  • Comfortis Plus 175 mg/5 mg (4 – 9 kg): One chew monthly.
  • Comfortis Plus 350 mg/10 mg (9 – 18 kg): One chew monthly.
  • Comfortis Plus 700 mg/20 mg (18 – 36 kg): One chew monthly.
  • Comfortis Plus 1400 mg/40 mg (36 – 72 kg): One chew monthly.
Administer at monthly intervals, with or without food. If vomiting occurs within 1 hour, re-dose with another full chew. If more than 1 hour, no re-dose is needed. Maintain regular monthly dosing to ensure continuous protection. Do not split chews, as this may result in underdosing. Comfortis Plus should be given only to dogs that have tested negative for heartworm infection within the past year.

Safety & Considerations

Comfortis Plus is generally well tolerated; the most common side effects include vomiting, lethargy, decreased appetite, and diarrhoea—typically mild and transient. Use caution in dogs with a history of seizures; spinosad has been associated with neurological reactions in such cases. Do not use in dogs younger than 14 weeks or weighing less than 2 kg. Pregnant or lactating dogs should receive Comfortis Plus only under veterinary guidance. If your dog accidentally vomits the chew within 1 hour of dosing, administer a replacement dose to maintain efficacy. Store chews securely—out of reach of children and other animals—to prevent accidental ingestion.
