Neovet

Brand Overview

Neovet is a generic spot-on formulation containing fipronil that provides monthly control of fleas and ticks. Applied topically, Neovet kills adult parasites on contact without needing ingestion. Suitable for dogs from 8 weeks of age (weighing at least 1.5 kg), Neovet eliminates up to 100% of adult fleas within 24 hours and ticks within 48 hours, offering rapid relief. Its easy-to-apply pipette format and competitive pricing make it a cost-effective choice for maintaining canine ectoparasite control.

Key Benefits

Fast parasite knockdown: Fipronil begins killing fleas within 24 hours and ticks within 48 hours. Monthly coverage: One application provides 30 days of continuous protection. Water-resistant: Effective even after bathing or swimming (avoid water contact for 48 hours post-application). Easy application: Spot-on pipette ensures accurate dosing and minimal handling.

Usage & Dosage

Select the correct Neovet pipette based on your dog's weight:

  • Neovet for Small Dogs (1.5 – 5 kg): One 0.5 mL pipette monthly.
  • Neovet for Medium Dogs (5 – 10 kg): One 1.0 mL pipette monthly.
  • Neovet for Large Dogs (10 – 20 kg): One 2.0 mL pipette monthly.
  • Neovet for Extra Large Dogs (20 – 40 kg): One 4.0 mL pipette monthly.
Part your dog's fur at the base of the neck until the skin is visible. Apply the entire pipette content directly to the skin in one or two spots along the midline. Ensure the coat is completely dry—do not apply to wet or dirty fur. Avoid bathing or swimming for 48 hours after application. Reapply every 30 days—if the schedule is missed by a few days, apply as soon as possible and maintain monthly intervals thereafter. Store pipettes tightly sealed in their original packaging, in a cool, dry area out of direct sunlight.

Safety & Considerations

Neovet is generally well tolerated; minor local reactions—such as redness, itching, or hair loss at the application site—may occur but usually resolve within 48 hours. Avoid contact with the dog's eyes, nose, and mouth—rinse thoroughly if accidental exposure occurs. Do not use on puppies under 8 weeks or dogs weighing less than 1.5 kg. Pregnant and lactating bitches can be treated, but seek veterinary advice first. Do not combine Neovet with other fipronil- or synthetic pyrethroid-based products to prevent overdosing. If your dog exhibits persistent irritation or systemic signs (tremors, incoordination), wash off with mild shampoo and seek veterinary assistance. Dispose of used pipettes and empty packaging according to local hazardous waste regulations.

Frequently asked questions

How soon does Neovet start working?
Neovet kills > 90% of adult fleas within 24 hours and most ticks within 48 hours of application.
Can I bathe my dog right after applying Neovet?
No—wait at least 48 hours post-application to ensure full absorption and maintain efficacy.
Is Neovet safe for sensitive skin?
Some dogs may experience brief irritation; if it persists, discontinue use and consult your veterinarian for alternative treatments.
What if my dog gets wet before 48 hours?
Swimming or bathing too soon may reduce efficacy. If this happens, reapply Neovet immediately and resume monthly schedule.
Does Neovet repel mosquitoes?
No—Neovet kills fleas and ticks but does not repel mosquitoes. Use a mosquito repellent product separately if needed to prevent heartworm.
