Care & Storage

  • As latex is a natural product, proper storage is important to prolong teat life.
  • Store teats in a cool, dry place protected from sunlight
  • Use a sealed, non-transparent container for storage.
  • Clean teats with warm soapy water after each use.
  • Ensure teats are fully dried before placing them into storage.
  • Sterilisation may be done using boiling water or baby-safe sterilising products.
Directions for use

Teat Selection:

  • Select a teat similar in size and shape to the animal's mother's teat to ensure a comfortable fit and assist with proper oral and tooth development.
  • Since marsupial joeys grow quickly, longer teats should be introduced as they mature.

Hole Size:

  • These teats do not come pre-made with holes, enabling carers to adjust the opening size according to the animal.
  • Create a hole using a hot needle for a small opening around 1 mm, or use scissors for larger feeds.
  • If the opening is too small, the teat tip may weaken from strong sucking and eventually burst.
  • Milk should drip slowly from the teat when the bottle is inverted.

Feeding Technique:

  • Tiny animals may be fed more effectively using a syringe with the teat secured over the end, helping regulate milk flow.
  • It is recommended to consult knowledgeable carers for guidance on suitable feeding practices for different wildlife species.
