Christmas Kittens

Are you thinking about getting a cute, lovable kitten this Xmas? Before you get ahead of yourself and bring a kitten home, you should probably take the necessary precautions to make sure your home is safe.

Create an indoor cat room for your new kitten

You might decide to set a particular area of the house aside for the kitten to use as a playroom. You would also be wise to clear off the windowsill or bookshelves for the cat to be able to climb on.

It is important to set a place for your kitten to eat. A place where it can be protected from bad weather and other animals. You’ll need to make sure that your Christmas kitten has clean water at all times.

You have to decide where your cat is going to sleep and make sure that it is ready with a litter box, blankets, newspaper, and whatever else that will help keep your kitten comfortable and warm.

Toys for a new kitten

Having a few kitten toys on hand will help entertain your new Xmas cat. Bungee mice, cardboard boxes, and more are simple things that the cat can use to entertain itself.

Kitten proof the garden

Make sure that there are no troublesome spots that your new Xmas cat can get stuck in. Part of this is removing all of the dangerous objects in the garden like wire, old planks with nails in them, fixing holes to keep large animals out, and making sure that there aren’t any poisons around.

Introducing your Xmas kitten to its new family

Caring for a new pet is a wonderful experience and it’s a big part of growing up for a lot of people. With a cat, children can learn about commitment, responsibility, and patience.

For that reason, children have to be taught how to care as well as be responsible for the welfare of their cats. You should, ideally, talk to them before you ever bring the cat home.

A kitten gift is a great chance for your child to learn these values and there are a couple of ways to help the process along. There are plenty of children’s books that you can find that will show them other children looking after cats. Setting up a list of chores that your children will be responsible for, things like feeding, cleaning the litter box, and cat grooming.
