Stop fleas in their tracks
The active ingredient effective against fleas, Imidacloprid, spreads across your dog’s skin and coat within 12 hours. After this time, re-infesting fleas are affected within 3-5 minutes of contact with your dog, and killed within 1 hour. Unlike chewable tablets, the active ingredient is not absorbed into your dog’s bloodstream, so fleas are killed on contact without the need for a blood meal. As your dog naturally sheds their skin and fur, tiny Imidacloprid crystals are also shed into the environment, killing flea larvae, and breaking the flea lifecycle.
Comprehensive protection from intestinal worms
Most wormers only kill adult worms in the intestines at the time of treatment, but this doesn’t solve the problem. Larvae migrate through your dog’s body causing damage, and along with the immature adults, soon mature into adults, not only causing harm to your dog, but also leading to environmental contamination from egg shedding before the next treatment. This puts you and your family at risk too!
Advocate for dogs not only kills adult roundworms and hookworms, but also immature adult and larval stages of these worms, breaking the lifecycle. What’s more, Advocate kills all species of important intestinal nematode worms found in Australian dogs, unlike many other products, providing comprehensive protection from these worms.
Advocate prevents re-infection between doses
Between treatments with many products, dogs can be re-infected with heartworms and intestinal worms. With regular monthly use, Advocate reaches a steady state, providing continuous protection from heartworm and intestinal worms between doses. Only topically applied moxidectin in Advocate has this unique feature, giving you peace of mind your dog is fully protected against these parasites.
Directions for use
Before applying Advocate, make sure your dog is standing during treatment. Remove your dog’s collar, and put it back on after the product is dry - except if your dog is wearing a Seresto collar. You don't need to remove it when applying Advocate.
Avoid applying the treatment near the eyes or mouth area as this may cause irritation. Bathe your dog before application, and apply Advocate when your dog is completely dry.
Record the treatment date, and repeat monthly.
What are the side effects of Advocate in dogs?
Occasionally, hair loss may occur at the application site. This is usually a single occurrence, and hair will grow back.
How does Advocate work?
The active ingredients in Advocate are:
- 100 g/L Imidacloprid
- 25g/L Moxidectin
Unlike oral treatments (like chewable tablets) that require the medication to be absorbed into your dog’s bloodstream, the active ingredient in Advocate that kills fleas, imidacloprid, spreads through your dog’s lipid (oily/fatty) layer of the skin and fur, killing fleas on contact, so they don’t need to bite your dog to be killed.
The other active ingredient, moxidectin, is rapidly absorbed into your dog’s bloodstream and distributed around the body, killing heartworms, intestinal nematode worms and mites.
Advocate kills which parasites?
Advocate kills adult fleas, flea larvae, heartworm, intestinal worms (roundworms and hookworms [larvae, immature adults and adults] and whipworm), ear mites, sarcoptic mites, demodex mites and lice.
How long does it take for Advocate to work on fleas and worms?
98-100 per cent of existing fleas on your dog are killed within 12 hours of the first application. After this, and with monthly use, fleas are affected within 3-5 minutes and killed within 1 hour. The moxidectin component, which is effective internally against heartworms and worms, is rapidly absorbed (<24 hours).
How long does Advocate last?
One treatment protects your dog for one month.
