It is imperative that caged birds with intestinal worms are regularly treated in order to prevent them from becoming seriously ill or even dying. Lethargy and loss of appetite are a few of the symptoms, but it is best to treat your birds before they manifest symptoms. The range of Vet Products Direct bird wormers can simply be added to drinking water or administered directly to individual birds. These include brands such as Vetafarm and Aristopet. There are many bird wormers available that treat the most common worms, such as threadworms, caecal worms, roundworms, gape worms, and gizzard worms. Read the directions on bird wormers before you use them, and don't give them to baby birds. The more frequently you need to give your birds wormings, the more likely they will be infected. However, even birds that are kept indoors, such as budgies, can get infected and need regular wormings.
